Annwyl Rieni a Gofalwyr,
Ysgrifennaf atoch i dynnu eich sylw at fater diogelwch ar-lein brys. Mae wedi dod i’n sylw bod nifer o ddisgyblion, yn enwedig ym Mlwyddyn 7, yn lawrlwytho ac yn defnyddio apiau a gwefannau sgwrsio fideo o’r enw Monkey ac OmeTV.
Beth yw’r llwyfannau hyn?
Mae Monkey ac OmeTV yn gweithredu mewn ffordd debyg i’r hen wefan Omegle. Maen nhw’n llwyfannau rhad ac am ddim sy’n paru defnyddwyr o bob cwr o’r byd ar hap ar gyfer sgyrsiau fideo a thestun byw, heb eu cymedroli. Er eu bod yn cael eu marchnata fel ffordd hwyliog o wneud ffrindiau newydd, mae eu sgôr oedran swyddogol yn ddieithriad dros 18 oed (neu 17+ gyda chaniatâd rhieni ar rai siopau apiau).
Y Peryglon i Blant
Gan fod y rhyngweithio hwn yn gyfan gwbl ar hap ac yn ddienw, mae’n cyflwyno risgiau diogelu sylweddol i bobl ifanc, gan gynnwys:
- Profi Cynnwys Amhriodol: Mae defnyddwyr yn aml yn dod ar draws cynnwys oedolion eglur, noethni, ac iaith sarhaus heb rybudd.
- Cyswllt ag Estronwyr: Mae risg uchel y gallai dieithriaid sy’n oedolion dargedu, trin, neu fanteisio ar blant.
- Diffyg Cymedroli: Yn aml nid yw rheolaethau rhieni arferol ar ddyfeisiau yn blocio fersiynau porwr gwe y gwefannau hyn, ac ychydig iawn o fonitro amser real sydd ar y llwyfannau eu hunain.
Sut Gallwch Chi Helpu
Rydym yn eich annog yn gryf i gymryd y camau canlynol gartref:
- Gwirio Dyfeisiau: Adolygwch apiau eich plentyn, hanes y porwr gwe, a chyfyngiadau’r siop apiau i sicrhau nad ydynt yn cael mynediad i’r llwyfannau hyn.
- Cael Sgwrs Agored: Siaradwch â’ch plentyn am beryglon sgwrsio fideo byw gyda phobl nad ydyn nhw’n eu hadnabod. Sicrhewch nhw y gallan nhw bob amser ddod atoch chi os ydyn nhw’n gweld rhywbeth ar-lein sy’n eu gwneud nhw’n anghysurus.
Byddwn yn atgyfnerthu’r negeseuon diogelwch ar-lein hyn gyda’n disgyblion yn yr ysgol yr wythnos hon. Mae cadw ein plant yn ddiogel ar-lein yn bartneriaeth, ac rydym yn gwerthfawrogi’n fawr eich gwyliadwriaeth a’ch cefnogaeth barhaus i amddiffyn ein pobl ifanc.
Mae croeso i chi gysylltu â thîm diogelu’r ysgol os oes gennych unrhyw gwestiynau neu bryderon.
Yn gywir,
Dewi Owen

Dear Parents and Carers,
I am writing to bring an urgent online safety matter to your attention. It has come to our notice that a number of pupils, particularly within Year 7, are downloading and accessing video chat applications and websites called Monkey and OmeTV.
What are these platforms?
Both Monkey and OmeTV function similarly to the now-defunct platform Omegle. They are free platforms that randomly pair users from around the world for live, unmoderated video and text chats. While they market themselves as fun ways to make new friends, their official age ratings are strictly 18+ (or 17+ with parental consent on some app stores).
The Risks to Children
Because these interactions are entirely random and anonymous, they pose significant safeguarding risks to young people, including:
- Exposure to Inappropriate Content: Users frequently encounter explicit adult content, nudity, and offensive language without warning.
- Contact with Strangers: There is a high risk of children being targeted, manipulated, or groomed by adult strangers.
- Lack of Moderation: Traditional parental controls on devices often do not block the web-browser versions of these sites, and real-time monitoring on the platforms themselves is minimal.
How You Can Help
We strongly encourage you to take the following steps at home:
- Check Devices: Review your child’s downloaded apps, web browser history, and app store restrictions to ensure these platforms are not being accessed.
- Have an Open Conversation: Talk to your child about the dangers of live video-chatting with people they do not know. Reassure them that they can always come to you if they see something online that makes them uncomfortable.
We will be reinforcing these online safety messages with our pupils in school this week. Keeping our children safe online is a partnership, and we greatly appreciate your vigilance and continued support in protecting our young people.
Please do not hesitate to contact the school’s safeguarding team if you have any questions or concerns.
Yours sincerely,
Dewi Owen
