Ysgol Llanfyllin, the new all-age school in North Powys, will be holding a virtual information event for parents and pupils interested in attending its Sixth Form next week.
Ysgol Llanfyllin is the county’s second all-through school and was established after Llanfyllin C.P. School and Llanfyllin High School were merged. It provides Welsh-medium and English-medium education for pupils from 4-18 years on the primary and high school sites.
Headteacher Dewi Owen said: “We have a large and thriving Sixth Form here in Llanfyllin and we would normally be welcoming parents and pupils into the school building to show them our excellent facilities. As an alternative, we will be holding an online event to accompany our information video. There will be the opportunity to meet the team, find out about the subjects on offer and ask any questions you might have about life in Llanfyllin Sixth Form.
2021 will be an exciting year for the school as they will be opening a new Sixth Form Centre. The Centre will include a lecture hall, resource base, study areas, traditional classrooms, e-learning spaces, a kitchen and common rooms for studying and socialising.
The school has introduced a range of digital initiatives to support pupils and parents during the lockdown:
- Daily live lessons for all pupils from Primary Phase to Sixth Form
- Daily Online Assemblies for different year groups
- Online Parents Evenings
- Distributing laptops and Wi-Fi hubs to families in need
- Ongoing telephone and virtual support for pupils and parents
The Sixth Form information event will be held at 6:30pm on Thursday February 4th via Microsoft Teams.
